What People are Saying about Beaufort South
Carolina
August 12, 2010 - Wonderful Memories, Beaufort will always
mean the 'true south' to me
I first visited Beaufort in 2005 when my daughter moved to
Lady's Island. I fell in love with the Lowcountry. Sea grass, salt
marsh, shrimp boats at sunset. We have returned many times, renting
houses on Fripp Island. I have wonderful memories of walking the
beaches on Fripp and Hunting Island, collecting shells and sand
dollars by the bucket full, watching dolphins jump around our boat
as we rode up the Beaufort River toward the ACE Basin, sunset
dinners at the Dockside and sitting on the swing on Bay Street
watching the boats come in.
We have since purchased property further north in Murrells Inlet -
but each day I wear my Beaufort destination bracelet that my
husband purchased for me at the Bay Street Jewelers. Beaufort will
always mean the "true South" to me.

March 25, 2010 - My wife and I had a wonderful time visiting your
city.
I wanted to write you to say that my wife and I had a
wonderful time visiting your city. We spent the day there during
our honeymoon in Savannah. This visit was during last year's
Shrimp Festival. I hope you all have great pride in your city
as it is a true American gem.

February 4, 2010 - Among the best food we ate while visiting
the Lowcountry.
My husband and I, from Virginia, and friends from
Texas visited Beaufort in November on vacation. Please pass
the word to Panini's that the food was excellent and among the best
we ate while visiting Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Savannah. We also
thoroughly enjoyed the tours we received at the John Mark Verdier
House and the Episcopal church. As I am a tour guide in
Virginia, I also appreciated the Old Spirit of Beaufort walking
tour. Keep up the good work. The communication your
organization provides visitors before they arrive is also to be
highly commended.

November 17, 2009 - My Husband and I enjoyed our visit so much
that now we are planning to move there.
I went to
Beaufort for the first time in July for the Water Festival. My
husband and I enjoyed our visit so much that now we are planning to
move there. It is absolutely amazing how nice the people are and
how beautiful the area is. I can't wait for my kids to grow up in
the Lowcountry. My favorite things just from the two times we
have been there are the Waterfront Park in Beaufort and
Hunting Island. I love to take a bagel and coffee and sit at
the tables in the park and eat breakfast. I just can't wait
to do it as a local!!

May 22, 2009 - Beaufort was by far my most favorite place.
We just returned two weeks ago from a 6-state vacation and it was
my first time to visit South Carolina. Beaufort was by far my
most favorite place. The swings overlooking the water were
awesome. Everything was clean - everyone was friendly and
helpful. The homes were spectacular. The buggy ride was
an awesome way to view the town and very reasonably priced. I
would recommend Beaufort to all my friends and I would definitely
visit again. The visitors center was very easy to find and so
clean and the people gave us a map and were so helpful. You
should be so proud of your town!

December 21, 2008 - Beaufort Gazette Letter to the
Editor:
My wife, Ann, and I had the opportunity to spend a week in your
fine city in late October. Wow, how we were impressed. As native
Virginians, on a number of occasions we have visited our Jamestown,
Yorktown and Williamsburg, as well as that town in North Carolina
that bears your name, but we had no idea what we were missing until
we found your Beaufort. During the six days we were there, we
constantly were impressed with the courteousness of virtually
everyone with whom we came in contact. A truly amazing thing to me
was that we never witnessed anyone speeding, running red lights or
driving recklessly. You have some fine restaurants, which we
enjoyed to the fullest, where we were greeted and treated in true
Southern style. Your shops are attractive and well appointed. They
succeded in having us leave our fair share there. It was great to
be able to enjoy so much of your historical significance as we
walked for miles and miles past those beautiful homes -- so well
maintained, though some were more than 200 years old. We look
forward to returning another time.
