Historic downtown Beaufort brings the holidays to life every year with days of celebration that include seasonal entertainment, shopping, Santa, and parades on land and by sea. It's a weekend full of family-friendly events!
“A Night on the Town” begins a three-day event in December, when downtown retailers stay open late and local choirs, dance groups, and clubs provide entertainment to downtown visitors. Santa Claus lights the city’s official Christmas tree and the Parris Island Marine Corps band performs holiday hits. Late-night shopping takes place from 6pm to 9pm, with the Christmas tree lighting up at 8pm!
If you are looking for something different to do, think about attending the full-stage musical, "Gullah Kinfolk Christmas Wish, Freedom Coming", presented by Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk. This musical production has become a holiday favorite with audience members traveling from both near and far to experience the spirit of the season. The performance depicts a historical account of December of 1860, the last Christmas before the Civil War. South Carolina has just seceded from the Union and War or Freedom is the talk by servant and master.
On Saturday, come back downtown at 11am for the "Gullah Taste of Christmas" event! Vendors come from all around the Lowcountry and bring their unique dishes full of flavor. That afternoon, bring your chairs and blankets down to the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park for the Beaufort "Lighted Boat Parade"! Starting at 5:30pm, our locals take to the seas on their boats that are decorated in beautiful Christmas lights and other decorations.
At 3pm, head downtown to end our "Holiday Weekend" with a Christmas parade led by Santa!
